Club Statement

21 Feb 2020 by Matthew Brown

The Board of the Alloway Football Club, after consultation with key stakeholders and in line with our strategic plan, has endorsed the re-branding of the Alloway Football Club to S.C. Corinthians Football Inc.

The new name represents the club’s sixth name change since it’s inception, starting from the Methodist Crusaders (1946-1965), Corinthians Soccer Club (1965-1979), Alloway Soccer Club (1979-2000), East Corinthians Soccer Club (2000-2006), and Alloway Football Club (2006-2020).

After a long consultation period it was decided to rename and rebrand the club after consideration was sought from members, life members and the executive committee.

Main points considered were as follows –
- The club is no longer associated with the Alloway Country Club or the surrounding area of Alloway since 2016,
- The need to further strengthen the club’s culture and ethos of development and community ties,
- The formation of a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with St Luke’s Anglican School,
- The club’s positioning in the Kalkie and East Bundaberg area including the acquisition of a second training base which will allow for future growth and expansion.
- The new ties with the Bundaberg Softball Association to provide a training venue and home ground in a central location of town.

The ‘Corinthians’ name has formed the basis of our strategic future direction, which also highlights the most successful period of our club’s history. This name change is ingrained as a form of respect to those who have come before us. This re-branding will not interfere with the club providing a safe and supportive environment for our members and we will continue to strive towards our values of ‘Family, Friendly, Fun’.

The club will be providing future information regarding our rebranding including playing strips, club attire. A club logo has been designed, after much consultation, to provide a strong brand to our club. At present the transition period will be over the 2020 season and fully completed by the start of 2021.

Kind regards
